No soporifics this long weekend but I’m still at a loss for words (i.e. personal essays, waxing poetic over seasonal obsessions, etc.) from the festivities (i.e. pub crawls, martinis, your classic holiday staples).
Luckily, last night I received a link to a freshly developed account of the past month—if I can’t string together a cohesive update of how I’ve spent my September, I thought I’d compile a few visual highlights to share with you, captioned as though this is a scrapbook, which for all intents and purposes, I more or less treat this newsletter as.
Yearly end-of-summer Maine trip with Marcus’s family. Kyle providing visual confirmation that those are in fact hermit crabs crawling under the Chowder House.
Our latest tradition: tinned fish flight. Everyone picks a tin and call it dinner. Supplemented with cheese and bread and overpriced but appropriately rated Torres chips.
This signage in a fishmonger in Portland reminded me that I’ve been wanting to get a mermaid tattoo. Maybe this will be the year.
Afternoon snack: clams two ways, chowder, fries, and canned white wine. I love summer.
Will never get over this colour story. Quite impressed by this disposable tbh.
Wandering down the cereal aisle in the U.S. will never not blow my mind. How! Why! Who is buying this!? Also, shoutout to Jenni Kayne who kindly gifted me the sweater I’m wearing. Ideal for supermarket AC and beyond.
I know that photos of shots are embarrassing but had to document the size of them. America!!!!
Finally had the birthday of my dreams to ring in 28: rented a karaoke room in Dragon City Mall and finished off our booking with a 30-minute One Direction set at 3 AM.
Then nursed our hangovers by celebrating our sweet Kayt in the park, who bought us both BIRTHDAY GIRL crowns she saw the Olsen twins wearing. So good.
Hosted the second iteration of Book Club with my new friends at grays! Somewhere, Bon Sang! and Drinks Farm poured wine, Hayley Axelrad showed her art, and Claudia Dey, Cody Caetano, Matthew R. Morris, and Janika Oza were guest authors. It was the best.
Of course I forgot the flash but trust me when I say you don’t want to miss the next one!!!
